Raipur, November 12, 2024: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai’s intervention led to the conclusion of the strike by managers and employees of Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Societies, fulfilling a demand pending for six years within 24 hours. Following the Chief Minister’s directive, the Cooperative Society Registrar approved a 25% increase in salaries and allowances for these employees. Additionally, an interdepartmental committee has been established to address other employee concerns.

This salary increase, benefiting around 13,000 cooperative society employees, marks the first such adjustment since 2018. Chief Minister Sai had previously instructed department officials to resolve these issues swiftly, resulting in productive discussions on November 10.

In line with the Chief Minister’s orders, the Cooperative Department Commissioner issued an order on November 11, officially amending the service regulations to authorize the 25% salary and allowance increase, bringing joy among the employees.

The Food Department has also issued guidelines ensuring that surplus paddy at procurement centers will be allocated to rice millers and the Marketing Federation within a month of the procurement season. Any remaining paddy will be handled by the Cooperative Societies, with proposals submitted to the Finance Department.

An interdepartmental committee comprising the Food, Finance, Agriculture, Cooperation, and Marketing Federation Departments has been formed to further address employee demands. This committee will review the union’s proposals and submit them to the government for resolution.

Grateful for the Chief Minister’s proactive measures, the Chhattisgarh Cooperative Society Employee Federation expressed its thanks to CM Vishnu Dev Sai, Cooperation Minister Kedar Kashyap, Food Minister Dayal Das Baghel, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Additional Chief Secretary of the Food Department Richa Sharma, and other officials for their support.

Employees have returned to their respective societies and are actively preparing for the paddy procurement season, set to begin on November 14, 2024. They assured that farmers will face no issues during this process, with all necessary arrangements to be completed by November 13, 2024. The Cooperative Department Commissioner has instructed officials to ensure smooth, transparent procurement operations with continuous monitoring at all centers.

The Chhattisgarh Cooperative Society Employee Federation officially ended the strike today, with Federation President Narendra Sahu affirming their commitment to implementing all state initiatives at the society level.
