Women Empowerment and Nutrition Budget 2025-26: A Commitment to Prosperity

A Total Budget of ₹27,147 Crores Allocated

Women and Child Development Minister, Ms. Nirmala Bhuria, described the budget presented by Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Jagdish Devda as a dedicated commitment towards women’s prosperity. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, a substantial budget of ₹27,147 crores has been allocated for women and child development for the financial year 2025-26. Minister Bhuria emphasized that the government, guided by the principle of ‘Yatra Naryastu Pujyante, Ramante Tatra Devata’ (Where women are honored, divinity blossoms), has prioritized the holistic development of women. The focus of this year’s budget is on welfare of the poor, youth empowerment, farmers, and women empowerment.

Major Budget Allocations for Women’s Welfare

Minister Bhuria highlighted the government’s efforts to enhance women’s economic self-reliance, health, nutrition, and decision-making roles within families. The ‘Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana’ has been allocated ₹18,669 crores for the year 2025-26. Other significant allocations include:

  • ‘Ladli Lakshmi Yojana’: ₹1,183 crores
  • Anganwadi Services (Saksham Anganwadi and Nutrition 2.0): ₹3,729 crores
  • ‘Vishesh Poshan Aahar’ (Special Nutrition Diet) Scheme: ₹1,166 crores

Infrastructure and Nutritional Support

The budget also includes ₹350 crores for the construction of Anganwadi centers and ₹223 crores for the Nutrition Campaign (NNM). Additionally, ₹144 crores have been allocated under Non-Institutional Care Sponsorship and Foster Care, and ₹124 crores for the Integrated Child Protection Scheme this year.

Holistic Development Focus

Minister Bhuria reiterated that this budget prioritizes the development of women and children, aiming to empower them socially and economically. The government’s initiative is not only expected to enhance social empowerment but also contribute significantly to the state’s overall progress.
