Chief Minister Praises Shared Devotion to Lord Jagannath in Odisha and Chhattisgarh

Raigarh, December 3, 2024 Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized the profound reverence for Lord Jagannath shared by the people of Odisha and Chhattisgarh, stating that the bond transcends geographical boundaries. Addressing the Utkal Brahmin Society Conference held in Raigarh, he celebrated the cultural and spiritual ties between the two regions.

The Chief Minister announced a grant of ₹50 lakh for the construction of a dedicated Utkal Brahmin Society building in Raigarh. He also honored several prominent members of the community for their contributions to public life, highlighting that such recognition not only motivates individuals but also inspires others to follow in their footsteps.

Speaking about his connection with Raigarh, the Chief Minister referred to it as his “karmabhoomi” (workplace) and praised the Utkal Brahmin Society for promoting progressive ideas through community initiatives. He remarked, “The Utkal Brahmin Society members have always been part of my joys and sorrows, contributing immensely to societal growth and achieving excellence in public life.”

Cultural Harmony and Development Initiatives

The Chief Minister underscored the cultural similarities between Chhattisgarh and Odisha, particularly in their shared devotion to Lord Jagannath. He reiterated his government’s commitment to education and infrastructure development, referencing the foundation stone laying of the ₹42 crore Nalanda Campus in Raigarh earlier in the day.

“Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions a knowledge-based society. To achieve this, we must provide our youth with top-quality education. Today, we have also inaugurated and laid the foundation for projects worth ₹135 crore in Raigarh district, which will significantly enhance its development,” he said.

Additional Announcements and Participation

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao and Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary also addressed the gathering. The Finance Minister announced an additional ₹20 lakh for the society’s building project.

Purandar Mishra, President of the Utkal Brahmin Society and MLA from Raipur North, extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries, including Chief Minister Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Sao, and Finance Minister Choudhary.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of community leaders and members, reflecting the unity and shared values of the Utkal Brahmin Society.
