Dehradun, September 5, 2026: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a grand Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebration at the Police Lines in Dehradun, where Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) was also present. The birth anniversary of Lord Krishna was observed with devotion, cultural performances and festive enthusiasm.
Dhami encouraged and honoured artists who performed at the programme. Appreciating their presentations, he said India’s rich cultural traditions and spiritual heritage help society remain connected to its roots. He added that such events give the younger generation an opportunity to understand Indian culture, Sanatan traditions and the life and teachings of Lord Krishna.
Extending Janmashtami greetings to people across Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister said Lord Krishna’s life inspires people to follow truth, righteousness, duty, action and public welfare. He said the message of Karma Yoga given by Lord Krishna in the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita remains relevant for humanity even today.
Dhami appealed to residents to adopt Lord Krishna’s values in their lives and contribute actively to the development of society and Uttarakhand.
Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) also conveyed his Janmashtami greetings to the people of the state.
Geeta Dhami, former Chief Minister and former Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, public representatives, the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, senior government and police officials, police personnel and other administrative staff attended the programme.
