Dehradun, September 4, 2026: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami released the August 2026 instalment of social security pensions through a one-click transfer from the Chief Minister’s Camp Office. A total of ₹147.05 crore was credited to the bank accounts of 9,91,914 beneficiaries under various welfare pension schemes.

The August payment also includes approval for 5,605 new pension beneficiaries across different social security categories. Dhami said providing reliable financial support to vulnerable, needy and disadvantaged sections of society remains a key priority of the state government.

The Chief Minister said every eligible resident should receive the benefit of pension schemes in a simple, timely and hassle-free manner. He directed officials to address practical difficulties in the implementation of welfare pensions with sensitivity and ensure that the system remains transparent and focused on beneficiaries.

Dhami also asked officials to identify eligible people who have not been able to obtain Aadhaar for any reason. He directed the department to arrange account-based payments for such beneficiaries so that no eligible person is denied pension support due to an Aadhaar-related issue.

August Pension Coverage

The total August pension allocation of ₹147,05,51,000 covers beneficiaries under old-age pension, widow pension, disability pension, farmer pension, abandoned women’s pension, maintenance grant, Teelu Rauteli pension and dwarf pension schemes.

Of the total beneficiaries, 2,14,711 are covered under the National Social Assistance Programme, while 7,77,203 beneficiaries are covered through state-level pension schemes.

The payment includes approximately ₹140.11 crore from the state share and ₹6.94 crore from the Central share.

New Beneficiaries Added

A total of 5,605 new pensions were sanctioned during August 2026:

  • 3,945 new old-age pension beneficiaries
  • 1,000 new widow pension beneficiaries
  • 416 new disability pension beneficiaries
  • 106 new farmer pension beneficiaries
  • 23 new abandoned women’s pension beneficiaries
  • 115 new maintenance-grant beneficiaries

The meeting also reviewed upcoming programmes, including a two-day National Departmental Summit proposed by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on September 18 and 19, 2026, at Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The summit is expected to bring together the Centre, states and Union Territories to discuss key priorities related to social justice and empowerment.

Social Welfare Minister Khajan Das, Social Welfare Secretary Dr Shridhar Babu Addanki, Additional Secretary Vikram Yadav, Joint Secretary Dhirendra Singh, Joint Director Gitaram Nautiyal, Assistant Director Hemlata Pandey and other officials were present at the meeting.
