Union Minister Shivraj Singh Virtually Launches ‘Naksha Project’
Raipur, February 18, 2025:
In a historic move towards modernizing land management, the ‘Naksha Project’ was launched in the Ambikapur Municipal Corporation area of Chhattisgarh. The project, aimed at ensuring precise urban land records through drone surveys, was virtually inaugurated by Union Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh, from Raisen in Madhya Pradesh.

This initiative will bring transparency to property records and enable swift resolution of land-related disputes, marking a significant milestone in the realm of digital land management in India.
Drone Technology to Modernize Land Management
The project utilizes drone technology to conduct aerial surveys, capturing high-resolution images and videos of urban properties. This data will be integrated into government records to enhance accuracy and resolve ownership disputes efficiently.
Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh emphasized the importance of the project, stating, “This initiative will revolutionize urban land management by addressing ownership disputes and ensuring transparency in property records. Drone surveys will provide accurate data, laying the foundation for better governance and effective planning.”
The ‘Naksha Project’ is being implemented across 141 districts in 26 states and 3 union territories, with Chhattisgarh’s Ambikapur, Jagdalpur, and Dhamtari included in the pilot phase. Ambikapur’s selection for the project is seen as a matter of pride for its residents.
Inaugural Event in Ambikapur
The launch event was held in the district panchayat conference hall in Ambikapur, attended by notable dignitaries, including Sarguja MP Shri Chintamani Maharaj, State Youth Commission Chairman Shri Vishw Vijay Singh Tomar, Collector Shri Vilas Bhuskar, Additional Collector Shri Sunil Nayak, and Municipal Commissioner Shri D.N. Kashyap.
Speaking at the event, Sarguja MP Shri Chintamani Maharaj lauded the project’s potential to provide precise records of every inch of land, thus eliminating revenue-related disputes and enhancing transparency. He highlighted that digital records would spare residents from unnecessary legal entanglements and facilitate the smooth execution of urban development plans.
Benefits of the Naksha Project
Collector Shri Vilas Bhuskar expressed optimism about the project, calling it a revolutionary step toward efficient land management. He stated, “Digitalization of land records will simplify and strengthen governance, ensuring the safety of revenue records and the success of urban planning initiatives.”
Under this initiative, drone surveys will map properties within the Ambikapur Municipal Corporation area. The resulting data will be made available through an online portal, ensuring public access to accurate land records. This transparency will help prevent future disputes and accelerate urban development projects.
A Step Towards Digital Transformation
The Naksha Project marks a major leap forward in Ambikapur’s journey toward digital transformation. By streamlining property management and enabling the use of advanced technology, the initiative promises to set a precedent for other cities in India.
Drone-based surveys will lay the groundwork for structured urban development, ensuring Ambikapur remains at the forefront of digital innovation in land management. The project not only simplifies property records but also provides a strong foundation for implementing future urban development schemes.
The initiative is a testament to Chhattisgarh’s commitment to modernizing governance and ensuring equitable growth for its residents.
