Dehradun, September 2, 2026: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami presented recognition certificates to 26 minority educational institutions, including madrasas, at a ceremony organised by the Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority at the IRDT Auditorium in Dehradun.
Held under the theme “New Identity, New Respect—A Bright Future Through Modern Education,” the programme marked a new step in the state’s efforts to connect minority educational institutions with contemporary and quality-focused learning.
Dhami congratulated representatives of the recognised institutions and said education is directly linked to building the future of society and the nation. He described the recognition of the 26 institutions as an important beginning in the field of minority education and said the state would continue encouraging innovation in education.
The Chief Minister said the purpose of establishing the Minority Education Authority is to ensure that children from all communities have access to modern education and adequate opportunities to develop their personalities and careers.
He said traditions have their own importance, but the present era is defined by knowledge, science, technology, innovation and artificial intelligence. As the world changes rapidly, children must be prepared to understand new challenges and compete in a technology-driven environment.
According to Dhami, education should help children identify their abilities and build independent futures. With the right opportunities, he said, students can become doctors, engineers, civil servants, writers, scientists and professionals in many other fields.
He stressed that classroom learning alone is no longer sufficient. Students must also receive practical, modern and employment-oriented education, along with the ability to understand research, use technology and apply knowledge in real-life situations.
Addressing concerns about government policies, Dhami said the state’s decisions are not aimed at targeting any individual or community. Referring to the Uniform Civil Code and the Minority Education Authority, he said both initiatives are intended to create a fair and orderly system rather than single out any particular group.
The Chief Minister said Uttarakhand has traditionally maintained bonds of affection, brotherhood and harmony among communities. He added that the government does not discriminate against anyone based on identity or background and gives importance to a person’s work and contribution.
Dhami also spoke about action against illegal occupation of government land. He clarified that the government’s intention is not to trouble poor people. Where citizens possess legally purchased land, valid documents, registered deeds and approved building plans, he said there is no reason for them to face unnecessary difficulty.
He said individuals who demonstrate ability and take responsibility are being given opportunities to move forward. Referring to the vice-chairperson Farzana and Authority Chairman Dr Surjeet Singh Gandhi, Dhami said the government’s approach is to provide meaningful responsibilities to people who are willing to work and prove their capabilities.
The Chief Minister said welfare schemes under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership are being delivered on the basis of eligibility, without discrimination on grounds of caste, community or social background.
Dhami said the recognition ceremony marks the beginning of a new system in minority education, and strengthening it will require equal responsibility from the government and educational institutions. He urged institutions to listen to children, understand their concerns and ensure that reforms lead to visible improvement on the ground rather than remaining a formal exercise.
He expressed hope that Uttarakhand’s new initiative in minority education would develop into a model for the country and give the state a distinct identity in this field.
Minority Welfare Minister Khajan Das, Authority Chairman Dr Surjeet Singh Gandhi, Special Secretary Dr Parag Madhukar Dhakate, Additional Secretary Vikram Singh Yadav, departmental officials, public representatives and representatives of recognised institutions attended the programme.
