Sydney | June 2025 — Spiritual leader Bageshwar Baba found himself in the eye of a social media storm after photos from his Australia tour showed him wearing Gucci sunglasses and a ₹60,000 designer jacket. While netizens questioned the display of luxury by a self-proclaimed saint, Baba chose not to stay silent.
In a bold response to the criticism, he said,
“If a ₹10 man can wear a ₹2 lakh jacket, why does it hurt so much when a saint wears one worth ₹60,000?”
Baba clarified that the jacket and accessories weren’t bought by him but gifted by his devotees.
“I didn’t purchase it… my disciples gave it to me,” he added.
“If you’re so hurt, then tomorrow I’ll wear the one worth ₹1.2 lakh instead.”
This fiery response has divided public opinion — while some hail his candor, others question the merging of spirituality with luxury branding. But one thing is certain: Bageshwar Baba knows how to keep himself — and his critics — in the spotlight.
