Dehradun, June 24, 2026: In a major success story for Uttarakhand’s overseas employment initiative, Sapna Rana has secured a nursing position at Schon Klinik Hospital in Hamburg, Germany, after completing German language training under the Chief Minister Skill Upgradation and Global Employment Scheme.
Rana met Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Chief Minister’s residence on Tuesday, where her achievement was acknowledged as a strong example of how the state government’s global placement efforts are creating new opportunities for young people from Uttarakhand.
Under the scheme, the Skill Development and Employment Department has established an overseas employment cell to connect the state’s youth with international job markets. The cell is currently providing language training for placements in Japan and Germany. Officials said around 65 young people from Uttarakhand have already been employed in Japan through this initiative.
Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bahuguna said Germany offers significant opportunities in the nursing sector, and the department has been running German language training accordingly. He noted that Sapna Rana, who hails from Tehri Garhwal, completed her training and was selected for a nursing job in Hamburg. She will receive a monthly salary of 3,060 euros, approximately Rs 3.30 lakh.
Rana studied at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Paukhal, Tehri Garhwal, and later completed her nursing education at the State Nursing College in Dehradun. Her selection, officials said, highlights the growing impact of the state’s efforts to equip young people with global skills and access to high paying career opportunities abroad.
Chief Minister Dhami said the government is continuously working to connect Uttarakhand’s youth with international employment opportunities through skill development and foreign language training. He added that the overseas employment cell is helping open a new pathway for young professionals who want to build careers beyond India while contributing to the state’s reputation for skilled manpower.
Secretary C. Ravishankar was also present during the meeting.
