Dehradun, June 24, 2026: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday attended the Terahvin ceremony of renowned marksman and Padma Shri awardee late Jaspal Rana in Majhon, Dehradun, and paid heartfelt tributes to the departed sports icon.

Rajnath Singh offered floral tributes to Rana’s portrait and bowed in respect to his memory. He also met the bereaved family members, expressed his condolences and prayed for strength and courage for them in this difficult hour.

The solemn ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bahuguna, Kharjan Das, MPs Dr. Mahesh Sharma and Ajay Bhatt, Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi, MLA Pankaj Singh and others.

Jaspal Rana, one of India’s most celebrated shooting champions, was widely respected for his achievements in sport and his contribution to inspiring a generation of young athletes. His passing has drawn tributes from across the political and sporting community.

The tribute event reflected the deep respect Rana commanded in public life and the personal grief shared by leaders, family members and admirers who gathered to honour his legacy.
