Dehradun, November 7, 2026: The third Pravasi Uttarakhandi Conference will be held at Doon University in Dehradun on November 13, with discussions focused on connecting Uttarakhand’s diaspora more closely with the state’s development.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed preparations at his residence on Saturday and asked officials to make the event well-organised, meaningful and focused on practical outcomes.

He said the conference should go beyond bringing people together for a single occasion and help build lasting connections between Uttarakhand and those who have made their lives elsewhere in India and abroad.

Diaspora Expertise to Support State’s Growth

Dhami said people of Uttarakhand origin are bringing recognition to the state through their achievements across different professions and regions. Their experience, expertise and ideas, he added, can make a valuable contribution to development at home.

He directed officials to create opportunities for meaningful dialogue and give serious consideration to participants’ suggestions.

The Chief Minister also called for encouraging diaspora participation in investment, self-employment, tourism, education, healthcare and other sectors. He said the gathering should strengthen both their emotional connection with their roots and their active involvement in Uttarakhand’s future.

Sessions on Development and Youth Success

Officials informed the meeting that the conference will take place at the Dr Nityanand Auditorium at Doon University.

The programme will include sessions examining the diaspora’s achievements and contribution to the state. A special discussion will focus on the “Role of the Diaspora in a Developed Uttarakhand.”

Another session, titled “Hauslon Ki Udaan,” will explore the journeys of young people from Uttarakhand who have overcome challenges to achieve success.

Cultural Heritage to Be Part of the Programme

Dhami said the event should present a strong reflection of Uttarakhand’s folk culture, traditions and heritage.

He instructed departments to complete arrangements for cleanliness, venue beautification, security and traffic management within the required timelines. Responsibilities must be clearly assigned, he said, with regular reviews to prevent gaps in coordination.

The Chief Minister stressed that the conference’s success should be measured by the quality of engagement and the opportunities it creates for sustained cooperation.

Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretaries R. K. Sudhanshu and R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Uttarakhand Pravasi Parishad Vice-President Om Prakash Bhatt, Media Advisory Committee Chairman Professor Govind Singh, Doon University Vice-Chancellor Professor Surekha Dangwal and senior officials attended the review meeting.
