Narayanpur, November 29, 2024 Farmer Manuram from Narayanpur district expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai for the smooth implementation of the paddy procurement process at support price for the Kharif marketing season 2024-25. He shared how the streamlined system has brought transparency and convenience to farmers like him.
Efficient Paddy Procurement at Support Price
The procurement of paddy across Chhattisgarh, including Narayanpur, began on November 14, 2024, through 17 procurement centers in the district. Manuram, who owns 3 acres of land, sold 50 quintals of paddy at the Mahka Procurement Center. His family of six, including his wife, a son, and three daughters, relies on farming as their primary livelihood.
Manuram shared that this year, he used two bags of DAP fertilizer and two bags of urea for his paddy crop. He praised the online token system introduced for paddy procurement, which eliminated the need for long waiting periods. “The process is now more convenient and transparent, and we no longer have to depend on middlemen,” he said.
Prompt Payments Bring Relief to Farmers
The initiative to transfer funds directly into farmers’ accounts within two days of selling paddy has been a game-changer. Manuram highlighted how timely payments have brought relief to farmers. “This system ensures that we receive our hard-earned money without delays, allowing us to plan our agricultural and family expenses better,” he noted.
21 Quintals per Acre Limit and ₹3,100 MSP
Farmers in the district are being allowed to sell paddy up to 21 quintals per acre, with a support price of ₹3,100 per quintal. Manuram applauded this decision, calling it a major relief for farmers. He also appreciated the government’s efforts to introduce slot booking for procurement, reducing the hassle of long queues at procurement centers.
Plans for the Future
Manuram plans to use the earnings from the paddy sale to repair his farmland and invest in the next crop cycle. Additionally, a portion of the funds will go toward meeting family expenses. He expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and the district administration for their efforts and hoped such farmer-friendly initiatives would continue in the future.
Manuram concluded, “Under the leadership of CM Vishnu Deo Sai and the efforts of the Agriculture Department, we are assured of fair prices for our hard work, and this motivates us to continue farming with renewed vigor.”
