Slams Union Government for Politically Motivated Agenda, Says It Lacks Public Welfare
Claims Punjab Has the Best Law and Order in the Country
SGPC is criticised for denying CCTV footage of the assault on Sukhbir Singh Badal.

New Delhi, December: Bhagwant Singh Mann, the chief minister of Punjab, has underlined that the Union Government must give “One Nation, One Education” and “One Nation, One Healthcare” top priority before enacting “One Nation, One Election.”

Addressing media persons outside the Parliament House, the Chief Minister expressed his surprise that the Modi Government is focusing on implementing ‘One Nation, One Election’ instead of more pressing issues like unified education and healthcare systems across the country. He labeled the move as politically driven, asserting that while unified education and healthcare would benefit the masses, ‘One Nation, One Election’ serves only the political ambitions of the ruling saffron party. Mann criticized the Union Government for prioritizing its own interests over public welfare, calling this approach dictatorial and detrimental to the interests of regional parties and states.

The Chief Minister highlighted that Punjab is a sacred land of revered Gurus, saints, and seers who have preached love and tolerance. He assured that the Punjab Government is already investigating the unfortunate incident involving the firing on Akali leader Sukhbir Singh Badal and vowed that the conspiracy would be exposed soon. Mann criticized the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for refusing to share CCTV footage from the Shri Harmandir Sahib complex, which hindered the investigation. However, he noted that with the footage now acquired, the probe will proceed more swiftly.

Mann also took pride in the fact that his party has secured an office in the Parliament House, calling it a moment of honor and satisfaction. Reflecting on his tenure as an MP, he emphasized the importance of utilizing the parliamentary platform to address public issues effectively. The Chief Minister urged the Union Government to allow opposition leaders to raise public concerns in Parliament in the larger interest of the people.

He concluded by reiterating his commitment to ensuring the welfare and security of Punjab’s residents, asserting that the state now has the best law and order situation in the country due to the government’s relentless efforts.
