Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang Honours Elderly by Washing Their Feet

Bhopal: Thursday, November 14, 2024, In honor of the death anniversary of former Rajya Sabha member Kailash Narayan Sarang and the birthday of his wife, Mrs. Prasoon Sarang, “Matri-Pitri Bhakti Divas” (Mother-Father Devotion Day) was observed. As part of this event, Minister of Cooperation, Sports, and Youth Welfare Vishwas Kailash Sarang led programs across all 17 wards of the Narela constituency, paying tribute to the elderly. Minister Sarang washed the feet of elders, performed aarti, and honored them with traditional gifts. Additionally, Ayushman health cards were distributed through special camps set up for citizens over the age of 70.

#### The Purpose of Matri-Pitri Bhakti Divas
Minister Sarang shared that his late father, Kailash Narayan Sarang, and mother, Mrs. Prasoon Sarang, always envisioned a society where every parent is respected and cherished. He expressed that Matri-Pitri Bhakti Divas commemorates this vision, honoring parents and elder citizens who have helped shape society. “This celebration strengthens Indian values, teaching us to respect the generation that built our society,” Sarang remarked.

#### A Legacy of Respect: Honoring Elders as Role Models
Minister Sarang emphasized the importance of respecting parents and elders, drawing inspiration from revered figures like Lord Rama and Shravan Kumar, who symbolize filial devotion. Sarang noted, “Our Sanatan culture teaches us that every elder deserves respect, and serving them is a form of worship.”

#### Minister Sarang Honors Elders in Narela
In Narela, the Minister washed the feet of seniors, performed aarti, and honored them with shawls and coconut. As a token of appreciation, he gifted elders with mementos and sacred tulsi plants. Surrounded by warmth and blessings, Minister Sarang led a flower-petal tribute for all elderly participants.

#### Matri-Pitri Bhakti Divas Becomes a Community Movement
Responding to Minister Sarang’s call, young people across Narela’s wards washed the feet of their parents, showing respect and devotion. This initiative saw enthusiastic participation from all communities and generations, symbolizing a unified effort to honor parents and elders. The overwhelming response has set Matri-Pitri Bhakti Divas on its way to becoming a widespread movement.

#### Key Programs Across Narela
Under Sarang’s leadership, thousands of seniors were honored across various wards in Narela, including Ward 70 (Prabhat Chauraha), Ward 39 (Santoshi Mata Temple), Ward 40 (near Mohit STD), and others. Activities included fruit distribution, drinks, blanket donations, and blood donation drives, creating a heartfelt community celebration.

#### Ayushman Health Cards Distributed to Elders
In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Ayushman Bharat initiative, special camps were organized in Narela to provide Ayushman health cards to eligible elders aged 70 and above. Minister Sarang distributed these cards to qualifying seniors, ensuring accessible healthcare for them.

#### Tears of Joy Among Elders
Many elders were moved to tears as children across Narela paid respects to their parents, symbolizing a renewed culture of reverence for seniors. Elders expressed gratitude for Sarang’s efforts, believing that his initiative would create a supportive environment where elders feel valued and are less likely to face social isolation.

#### National Observance of Kailash Sarang’s Death Anniversary
Across India, Kailash Sarang’s death anniversary was observed as Matri-Pitri Bhakti Divas. In cities like Delhi, Patna, Raipur, and many more, BJP workers and community groups organized services for the elderly, distributing meals, ration kits, fruits, books, and blankets. This national observance further cemented Sarang’s legacy of compassion and respect for parents and elders.
