When help arrives in time

For people living with disability, even a simple journey can become difficult. A wheelchair is not merely a piece of equipment; it can restore independence, dignity and the ability to take part in everyday life. The quick response of the CM Camp Office in Bagiya, which provided wheelchairs to two elderly residents affected by paralysis, is therefore a meaningful example of responsive governance.

Gulo Bai, a 50-year-old resident of Batnidand village, and 86-year-old Shivcharan Minj of Tamsingha village approached the camp office seeking wheelchairs after becoming unable to walk. The office acted promptly and provided the support. For both individuals, the assistance can make daily movement easier and reduce dependence on others for routine tasks.

This case shows why local grievance redressal matters. People often need help with immediate problems, from health-related needs to mobility aids. A camp office that listens, verifies needs and acts without unnecessary delay can become a valuable point of contact between citizens and the administration. Its usefulness lies not in the number of applications received, but in whether genuine needs are met in time.

At the same time, such assistance should be part of a dependable system rather than an exception. People with disabilities need sustained support: accessible public spaces, timely health services, assistive devices and clear procedures to obtain them. Wheelchairs should be provided based on need and maintained properly, so that beneficiaries receive lasting benefit rather than a one-time gesture.

The relief received by Gulo Bai and Shivcharan Minj is a reminder that government services are most effective when they respond to people where they are. A wheelchair may seem like a small intervention, but for someone unable to move independently, it can make a large difference. Quick, humane and accessible support of this kind strengthens public trust and brings governance closer to the people it is meant to serve.
