On 14 October, Madhya Pradesh will release the 41st instalment of the Ladli Behna Yojana. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav will transfer the amount to the bank accounts of about 1.25 crore eligible women through a single click at the Ladli Behna Yojana conference in Gurwahi village, Umaria district. During Navratri, this support carries a message of respect, self-reliance and commitment to women’s welfare.

Under the scheme, eligible women receive 1,500 Rupees every month. Women who are also covered under the social security pension scheme receive 900 Rupees a month, as per the scheme’s provisions. The amount is transferred directly to Aadhaar-linked and DBT-enabled bank accounts, making the payment process transparent and convenient.

The purpose of the Ladli Behna Yojana is to strengthen women’s economic self-reliance, improve their health and nutrition, and increase their role in family decisions. Regular financial support can help women meet their needs and participate more effectively in household economic activities. It can also give women greater confidence in taking financial decisions.

The scheme began in June 2023, when the first monthly instalment was transferred to about 1.25 crore women. By September 2026, 40 instalments had been paid regularly. In addition, beneficiaries received special assistance of 250 Rupees on four occasions, in August 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. For the financial year 2026-27, the state has provided 23,882.81 crore Rupees for the scheme.

At the Umaria event, the Chief Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation for 136 development works costing 14,415.93 lakh Rupees. These include projects in the Bandhavgarh and Manpur assembly constituencies. Such works are important for local development, but the Ladli Behna transfer addresses a more immediate need: putting a regular amount directly into women’s accounts.

The true value of the scheme will be seen when financial support helps women become more independent and confident. A monthly transfer can provide stability, but women also need opportunities for skills, employment and enterprise. If the Ladli Behna Yojana is linked with such opportunities, it can move beyond assistance and become a stronger foundation for women’s empowerment.
