Caught After an Encounter in Chambal Ravines, ₹10 Lakh Worth of Stolen Goods Recovered
Bhopal, February 2, 2025 – In a swift and strategic operation, the Bhind police arrested three robbers within six hours of looting a jewelry shop in Kotwali police station area. The accused were caught after an encounter in the Chambal ravines, and police recovered gold, silver, and cash worth ₹10 lakh.

Incident Details
On February 1, 2025, at around 7:00 PM, three unidentified robbers arrived on a red motorcycle and fired in the air using a country-made pistol (315 bore) before looting gold and silver ornaments from Anand Jewelers, owned by Anand Soni.
On February 2, Soni filed a police complaint, after which a case was registered under Sections 309(4), 296, 3(5), 125 of BNS, and 11/13 of MPDPK Act.
Swift Police Action
Recognizing the seriousness of the crime, Superintendent of Police Dr. Asit Yadav personally visited the crime scene and ordered strict vehicle checks across the district.
Under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Pathak, three police teams were formed. After analyzing CCTV footage from the crime scene and nearby markets, photos of the suspects were shared across police WhatsApp groups.
Encounter in Chambal Ravines
A tip-off led police to a remote location near Ater Fort, about 500-1000 meters from the Chambal riverbank, where three suspects were hiding with a backpack and weapons.
When police approached the area, the suspects attempted to flee and opened fire at the officers. In self-defense, police returned fire, injuring two suspects, while the third was caught while trying to escape.
Arrested Accused
The arrested individuals were identified as:
- Gulli alias Shivam (23 years), resident of Bindwa, Mahua police station, Morena
- Anshu Srivastava (19 years), resident of Amayan police station area
- Mohit Tomar, resident of Huset Ghat, Morena district
Recovered Items
During the search, police recovered:
✅ ₹2,77,100 in cash
✅ 6.95 kg of silver jewelry
✅ Gold ornaments, including two mangalsutras, three Om pendants, two pairs of earrings, one ring, and a nose ring
✅ A country-made 315-bore pistol, a 12-bore pistol, five live rounds, and four empty cartridges
A case was registered against the accused at Ater police station under Sections 109, 132, 3(5) of BNS, and 25/27 of the Arms Act. The injured accused were immediately taken to Bhind District Hospital for treatment.
Revelations During Interrogation
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to carrying out the robbery in Bhind. They also admitted to similar crimes in Ahmedabad, Morena, and Mumbai.
