Bhopal, November , 2024: Marking the 555th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav hosted a grand celebration at the Chief Minister’s residence, where a sacred Darbar featuring Guru Granth Sahib Ji was organized. The event included a traditional *langar* and a vibrant display of Sikh culture and devotion. Dr. Yadav entered the Darbar adorned in a turban, welcomed by a resounding chorus of *“Jo Bole So Nihal – Sat Sri Akal”* and a shower of flower petals. He participated in the congregation (*Sangat*) and immersed himself in the divine hymns of *Gurbani* and kirtan.

He stated, “Sikh Gurus envisioned a society devoid of discrimination, where all individuals are equal before the Almighty. Dr. Yadav paid homage to the ten Sikh Gurus and acknowledged their role in preserving India’s *Sanatan* culture. He emphasized the unparalleled sacrifices of Sikh Gurus and their four sons (*Sahibzadas*), whose stories remain an indelible part of history. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to facilitate access to Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan, he remarked, “The sacrifices of Sikh Gurus continue to inspire us, and preserving their legacy is our duty.”

Dr. Yadav stressed the need to link historical lessons with education. The government has already included the martyrdom of Sikh Gurus and *Sahibzadas* in the Class 7 curriculum in Madhya Pradesh schools. Plans are underway to promote advanced research on Sikh history and contributions at the higher education level. The Chief Minister further assured support for the Sikh community through employment initiatives and enhanced infrastructure for Gurudwaras, particularly in Arera Colony, Bhopal.

The event was lauded by prominent figures from the Sikh community. MP V.D. Sharma called it a landmark occasion as Guru Granth Sahib Ji was enshrined at the Chief Minister’s residence for the first time. Surendra Singh Arora from Ujjain emphasized the need for preserving historical Gurudwaras, while Narendra Singh Saluja from Indore praised the inclusive representation of Sikh women in leading the *Ardas* (prayer).
Dr. Yadav was also honored with a ceremonial *Kirpan*, symbolizing respect and gratitude from the Sikh community. Neha Bagga and Surjit Singh Tuteja highlighted the Chief Minister’s consistent efforts to incorporate Sikh history into educational reforms, a practice he began during his tenure as Higher Education Minister.
