Bhopal, April 2, 2025 – In a decisive move to improve rural connectivity, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed officials to ensure that all settlements in the state are connected by roads within the next three years. The initiative aims to facilitate smooth transportation for rural citizens and boost overall infrastructure development.

Presiding over a review meeting of the Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority at Samata Bhavan, CM Yadav emphasized the need for a scientific survey at the district level to identify road connectivity requirements. He further instructed that feedback from local legislators and panchayat representatives be incorporated into the development plans.

Madhya Pradesh Pioneers Under PM Jan-Man Yojana

During the meeting, officials highlighted a major milestone—the construction of the country’s first-ever road under the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Man Yojana. This road, built from Pandatola to Bijatola in the Balaghat district, marks a significant achievement in rural road infrastructure.

Madhya Pradesh has also emerged as a frontrunner in securing central government incentives for road maintenance and upgrades, surpassing other states in performance.

E-Marg Portal: A National Success Story

The state’s E-Marg Portal, initially launched in 2015-16 for road monitoring and maintenance, has received nationwide recognition. Impressed by its efficiency, the Government of India has now adopted it as a national model for road management across the country.

Leveraging Technology for Better Infrastructure

CM Yadav stressed the importance of using modern technology such as mobile apps, geo-tagging, and artificial intelligence (AI) for road maintenance. He instructed authorities to conduct traffic assessments and prioritize road widening and upgrades accordingly. Additionally, the state will expedite repairs of roads damaged due to heavy rains and floods.

Major Progress in Road Connectivity

Madhya Pradesh has already provided road connectivity to 50,658 out of its 89,000 habitations. Under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-4 (PMGSY-4), surveys for roads covering 11,544 additional settlements have been completed. The state is now focused on connecting the remaining 26,798 habitations through an accelerated road development plan.

Officials also informed the Chief Minister that the Samveg Portal is being utilized for online approvals of maintenance work, ensuring efficiency and transparency in road development projects.

With its strategic roadmap and innovative digital interventions, Madhya Pradesh is set to revolutionize rural road connectivity, paving the way for economic growth and enhanced accessibility across the state.
