Dehradun, October 15, 2026: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honoured 63 students who secured positions among the top 10 ranks in Uttarakhand’s 2026 High School and Intermediate board examinations at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Educational Excellence Awards ceremony.
Held at Mukhya Sevak Sadan at the Chief Minister’s official residence, the programme also recognised the principals of six schools for outstanding examination results.
The student awardees included 38 High School achievers and 25 Intermediate achievers. Principals of three schools in each examination category received certificates of appreciation and the Chief Minister’s Trophy.
Hard Work, Teachers and Families Behind Success
Congratulating the awardees, Dhami credited their achievements to sustained effort, discipline and determination. He also acknowledged the contribution of teachers and parents in helping students reach their goals.
The Chief Minister said Uttarakhand recorded a High School pass percentage of 92.10% and an Intermediate pass percentage of 85.11% in 2026. Describing these results as encouraging, he expressed confidence that students would continue to bring recognition to the state and the country.
Education Must Go Beyond Textbooks
Remembering Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, Dhami said education should combine academic learning with ethical values, patriotism, social harmony and practical knowledge.
He described Upadhyay as a thinker, educationist and social worker associated with Integral Humanism and Antyodaya—the principle of uplifting those at the margins of society.
Dhami said the National Education Policy 2020 provides a framework for making education more contemporary, practical and focused on quality. He added that Uttarakhand is among the states taking a leading role in implementing the policy, with an emphasis on innovation, digital learning and students’ all-round development.
Virtual Classrooms and Modern Laboratories
Outlining the state government’s education initiatives, the Chief Minister said arrangements for virtual classrooms and a central studio are being developed to serve 500 schools, helping students in remote areas access quality teaching.
He also highlighted the establishment of 189 Atal Utkrisht schools and the mandatory use of NCERT textbooks in government schools.
Modernising school laboratories remains another priority, he said, to help students build practical knowledge and become familiar with new technologies.
Support for Girls and Vulnerable Children
Dhami said eligible girls who pass Class 12 receive an incentive of ₹51,000 under the Nanda Gaura scheme.
He also referred to the Mukhyamantri Balashray Yojana, saying the government is working to ensure free education for orphaned children. The aim, he said, is to give every child access to quality education and an equal opportunity to develop their abilities.
Citing Uttarakhand’s achievement of full literacy, the Chief Minister said education and the capabilities of the younger generation would be central to the state’s development. He encouraged the award-winning students to build on their success through knowledge, skills and continued hard work.
Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, MLA Savita Kapoor, Education Secretary Jyoti Yadav, Additional Education Secretary Namami Bansal and Education Department officials attended the ceremony.
