Banbasa, Champawat, October 4, 2026: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a state Cabinet meeting at the NHPC complex in Banbasa, Champawat, near the India–Nepal international border.

The meeting marked the first time a Cabinet session was held in Champawat district, signalling the government’s effort to take administration and decision-making closer to remote and border regions of the state.

Cabinet Meetings Beyond Dehradun

Dhami said Cabinet meetings would no longer remain limited to Dehradun. The government plans to hold such meetings in different districts of Uttarakhand so that local issues, regional development opportunities and area-specific priorities can be placed directly before the state leadership.

He said conducting Cabinet meetings across the state would help the government better understand local conditions, public expectations and development needs. It would also support faster decisions on issues affecting individual districts and regions.

Focus on Border Development

The Chief Minister said border areas are not merely geographical limits of the state; they are important links in Uttarakhand’s security, culture and development.

He said the government’s priority is to connect residents of border regions with the mainstream of development by strengthening:

  • Basic public infrastructure.
  • Employment opportunities.
  • Tourism.
  • Road, digital and other connectivity.

Dhami said the government intends to bring governance closer to people. By holding Cabinet meetings in different regions, officials and ministers can gain a more direct understanding of the challenges and aspirations of local communities.

Balanced Development Across Uttarakhand

The Chief Minister reiterated that balanced development in every part of Uttarakhand is a core commitment of the state government.

He said development would move forward uniformly, from remote border villages to the plains, with an emphasis on improving opportunities, services and infrastructure across the state.
