Focus on Pantry Car, Station Cleanliness, and Ticket Checking
Under the guidance of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Mr. Saurabh Kataria, a thorough inspection was conducted by Divisional Commercial Manager Mr. Pankaj Dubey. The inspection covered pantry car services, station sanitation, and ticket checking systems to ensure better service delivery and operational discipline.
A key part of the inspection included Train No. 12137 Punjab Mail, where the pantry car was closely reviewed. During the visit, Mr. Dubey personally interacted with passengers in the presence of the pantry manager. Passengers provided mixed feedback, raising concerns about food quality and overcharging. Acting swiftly, Mr. Dubey directed the pantry staff to eliminate overcharging practices and improve service standards.

Several irregularities were identified during the inspection:
- Absence of economy meal (“Janata Khana”).
- Food packets without printed price labels.
- Poor cleanliness within the pantry car.
- Staff not wearing prescribed uniforms or ID cards.
Strict instructions were issued to the pantry manager and staff to rectify these issues immediately.
As part of the inspection drive, Ganjbasoda railway station was also reviewed. The sanitation standards on the platform were found to be unsatisfactory, and rainwater leakage was observed in the platform shed. The cleanliness contractor was given strict orders to take corrective measures without delay.
Ticket checking operations were reviewed onboard Train No. 12137 Punjab Mail (between Bhopal and Ganjbasoda) and the return journey on Train No. 18238 Chhattisgarh Express. Mr. Dubey instructed the ticket checking staff to take firm action against unauthorized travel. At Ganjbasoda station, several trains including Bhopal-Bilaspur Express, Bhopal-Bina MEMU, and Gwalior-Bhopal Intercity were inspected.
A total of 83 cases involving ticketless travel, irregular tickets, and unbooked luggage were identified, resulting in penalties totaling ₹36,420.
The inspection team comprised:
- Chief Ticket Inspector Mr. Arun Kumar Srivastava
- Catering Inspector Mr. Hemraj Meena
- Chief Commercial Inspector Mr. Manvendra Singh
- Divisional Commercial Inspector (Vidisha) Mr. V.M. Rao
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Mr. Saurabh Kataria emphasized that such regular inspections are crucial to delivering quality services to passengers and maintaining discipline across departments. He confirmed that similar initiatives will continue to be carried out in the future to uphold service standards.
