Raipur, November 14, 2024: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai emphasized the commitment of both the central and state governments toward the holistic development of the tribal community. Speaking at the Tribal Pride Day and Kanwar Society Conference in Bhathagaon (B), Gundardehi, Balod district, the Chief Minister highlighted various welfare schemes focused on tribal empowerment.
Paying homage to freedom fighter Birsa Munda, CM Sai acknowledged his bravery and sacrifice, noting that Munda fought for his identity, culture, and homeland, ultimately sacrificing his life at the young age of 25. During the event, Chief Minister Sai announced the government’s decision to take over the higher secondary school operated by the Kanwar Society in Bhathagaon and to allocate ₹2.5 million for school repairs. Additional allocations included ₹5 million for a social building for the Kanwar Society in Rengakathera village and ₹1 million for the Ram Satta site construction at the Ram Temple in Ward No. 10, Gundardehi.
He also honored tribal leaders, such as Birsa Munda and Saint Gahira Guru, who contributed significantly to India’s freedom struggle and nation-building. Recognizing these contributions, the Indian government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has designated November 15—Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary—as Tribal Pride Day, instilling a sense of pride among the tribal communities across the country.
Before the event, CM Sai visited the memorial of martyr Thaman Singh Thakur and Zamindar Dau Girdhari Singh, who contributed significantly to promoting education in Bhathagaon. He paid floral tributes at their memorials and later appreciated the various departmental stalls set up at the event. The conference was attended by MP Bhojraj Nag, MLA Kunwar Singh Nishad, District Panchayat President Sonadevi Deshlahara, and a large number of Kanwar Society members.
