Raipur, November 14, 2024: The annual paddy procurement festival for the Kharif marketing season 2024-25 commenced today in Chhattisgarh, marked by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai’s ceremonial launch at the Bhantagaon (B) procurement center in Balod district. The procurement drive, set to run until January 31, 2025, saw a strong start, with around 55,000 metric tons of paddy purchased on the first day alone. A total of 14,567 farmers across the state sold their paddy, marking the beginning of a significant season for the state’s agriculture sector.

The Chhattisgarh government has set up 2,739 procurement centers this year, aiming to buy approximately 16 million metric tons of paddy. According to the Food Department, 2.768 million farmers have registered for this season, including 142,000 new farmers. A total of 24,748 tokens were issued for today’s purchases, signaling a well-organized start to the extensive procurement operation.
