Union Home Minister Amit Shah Participates in the Event in Chhattisgarh
Raipur, February 6, 2025 – Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah attended the First Samadhi Memorial Festival of Acharya Shri Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj and participated in the Shri 1008 Siddhachakra Vidhana Vishva Shanti Mahayagya in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh.
During the event, Amit Shah unveiled a ₹100 commemorative coin, a ₹5 special postal envelope, and 108 sacred footprints of Acharya Ji, along with laying the foundation stone for the proposed Samadhi Memorial ‘Vidyayatan’. The program witnessed the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma, and Acharya Samta Sagar Ji Maharaj, among other dignitaries.

In his address, Amit Shah described Acharya Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj as a “Yug Purush” (epoch-making personality) who introduced a new era and ideology. Born in Karnataka, Acharya Ji dedicated his entire life to Indian culture, languages, and the nation’s identity, emphasizing the use of ‘Bharat’ instead of ‘India’.
Shah highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to use ‘Prime Minister of Bharat’ on the G-20 invitation letters was a tribute to Acharya Ji’s vision. He praised Acharya Vidyasagar Ji’s relentless pursuit of spirituality, discipline, and non-violence, noting his influence beyond Jainism, reaching followers across different faiths.
Cultural Initiatives and Honoring Acharya Ji’s Legacy
Amit Shah reiterated that under PM Modi’s leadership, India is promoting ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (The World is One Family) and ‘Ahimsa Parmo Dharma’ (Non-Violence is the Supreme Religion). As a tribute to Acharya Ji’s educational philosophy, the foundation stone for a free girls’ school in Dindori, Madhya Pradesh, was also laid, where education will be imparted in the mother tongue with a focus on skill development and employment.
Additionally, the 108 sacred footprints of Acharya Ji were inaugurated, symbolizing his message of renunciation, discipline, and self-restraint. Shah asserted that ‘Vidyayatan’ will serve as a spiritual and educational hub, spreading Acharya Ji’s teachings for generations to come.

Shah also highlighted Acharya Ji’s literary contributions, particularly his epic Hindi poem ‘Mookmati’, which has been translated into multiple languages and is considered a treasure trove of philosophy, spirituality, and patriotism. He emphasized Acharya Ji’s belief that India’s linguistic diversity is its strength and that a nation rich in languages, scripts, and dialects is culturally prosperous.
