Micro-ATM Eases Transactions for Farmers
Raipur, December 2, 2024

The state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, has simplified the process of selling paddy and withdrawing payments for farmers by introducing Micro-ATM facilities at procurement centers. This farmer-friendly initiative has enhanced convenience, reduced dependency on banks, and increased satisfaction among farmers.

Direct Benefit to Farmers

Chhattisgarh is the only state in the country offering farmers the highest price of ₹3,100 per quintal for paddy under its Minimum Support Price (MSP) system. Now, with the integration of Micro-ATM services at procurement centers, farmers can immediately withdraw up to ₹10,000 in cash after selling their produce, doubling their happiness.

Convenience at Procurement Centers

Farmers no longer need to visit banks or ATMs to access their payments. Instead, they can withdraw cash on the spot at procurement centers, making it easier to:

  • Pay transportation charges for rented vehicles like tractors or mini-trucks.
  • Compensate laborers for loading and unloading paddy.

Testimonial from Farmers

  • Rakesh Kurre from Chilhalti Village shared his experience at the Mopka procurement center. After selling 62.80 quintals of paddy, he immediately withdrew ₹1,000 using the Micro-ATM. He remarked, “This facility addresses our immediate financial needs and saves us the hassle of borrowing money or visiting banks. The process is simple and fast, requiring just our Aadhaar number and fingerprint for authentication.”
  • Farmers across the state have expressed similar sentiments, emphasizing that this initiative has reduced their financial stress and enabled smooth transactions at the point of sale.

User-Friendly Technology

The Micro-ATM service is highly intuitive and secure, operating on an Aadhaar-enabled payment system (AEPS). Farmers can withdraw their earnings conveniently with minimal technical know-how, ensuring even those with limited access to formal banking benefit from the scheme.

Government’s Commitment to Farmers

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai highlighted that this initiative is part of the government’s larger effort to uplift farmers and ensure transparency in agricultural processes. With robust arrangements for paddy procurement and immediate disbursement of payments, the state continues to stand as a model for farmer-centric governance.

Key Highlights of the Scheme

  • ₹3,100 per quintal MSP: The highest in India.
  • On-the-spot withdrawal: Micro-ATM at procurement centers allows withdrawals up to ₹10,000.
  • No banking hassles: Simplified process through Aadhaar and biometric verification.
  • Immediate benefits: Instant access to cash for transportation and labor payments.

Conclusion

The integration of Micro-ATM services at procurement centers is a transformative step toward financial inclusivity for farmers in Chhattisgarh. By eliminating unnecessary hurdles and ensuring immediate payment accessibility, the government has empowered farmers to focus on productivity and sustainability.
