Dehradun, October 14, 2026: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to complete unfinished sewer and drinking-water pipeline works by November 1 and promptly restore roads dug up for these projects.

The directions came during a nearly four-hour, late-night review meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence with District Magistrates, Senior Superintendents of Police and senior administrative officials. The meeting covered road repairs, public services, law and order, festival arrangements, disaster relief and preparations for Haridwar Kumbh 2027.

Dhami warned that negligence, avoidable delays and attempts to evade responsibility in matters affecting the public would not be tolerated.

CM to Inspect Roads During Statewide Tour

The Chief Minister asked all District Magistrates to inspect roads on the ground, immediately begin pending repairs and accelerate the drive to make roads pothole-free.

He said he would soon travel across Uttarakhand by road and hold the officials concerned accountable if he found damaged stretches or negligence in repair work.

Dhami emphasised that progress reports alone would not be sufficient. The quality of completed work must be visible on the ground.

With festivals approaching, he called for particular attention to roads in markets, residential neighbourhoods and major traffic corridors. Departments must coordinate so that unfinished projects do not cause unnecessary inconvenience to residents.

Festival Security and Tourist Traffic in Focus

Reviewing arrangements for Navratri and Diwali, Dhami directed officials to strengthen security and traffic management across the state. He asked police to give special attention to the safety of women, children, older people and pilgrims.

He also reviewed Operation Kalnemi and verification drives, calling for more effective implementation ahead of the festivals and Haridwar Kumbh 2027. Officials were instructed to increase monitoring at religious sites, tourist destinations, crowded locations and sensitive areas.

For the winter tourism and pilgrimage season, the Chief Minister asked authorities to prepare advance traffic plans for Mussoorie, Nainital, Haridwar, Rishikesh and other major destinations.

Faster Action on Complaints and Revenue Cases

Dhami directed urban local bodies to improve sanitation and asked revenue officials to prevent unnecessary delays in disposing of cases.

Patwaris and tehsildars must resolve matters within the prescribed timelines and in accordance with the rules, he said, stressing transparency and accountability.

The Chief Minister also instructed police to register FIRs promptly in cases involving cognisable offences, as required by law, and ensure swift and effective follow-up action.

Officials were asked to pay close attention to voter-list work under the Special Intensive Revision exercise and complete district-plan projects within their scheduled timelines.

Kumbh Preparations, Disaster Relief and Healthcare Reviewed

On Haridwar Kumbh 2027, Dhami directed all departments involved to coordinate closely and finish their assigned work on time.

He asked District Magistrates to ensure immediate relief and assistance for disaster-affected families. The availability of healthcare in mountainous, remote and difficult-to-access areas was also reviewed.

Expressing concern over incidents involving bears, leopards and other wildlife near villages and residential areas, the Chief Minister called for an effective action plan.

District Visits Every Fortnight

Dhami instructed secretaries assigned charge of districts to visit their allotted districts every 15 days. During these visits, they must review development projects and welfare schemes at both district and block levels.

He said officials delivering results would be encouraged, while those found negligent or avoiding their responsibilities would face action under the applicable rules.

The meeting was attended by the Home Secretary, commissioners of the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions, District Magistrates, Senior Superintendents of Police, Inspectors General of both police ranges and senior departmental officials.
