Success Stories from Supraja Scheme

The Supraja Scheme has delivered remarkable outcomes for expectant mothers:

  1. Sharda Nishad from Gattasilli, Nagari Development Block, faced complications with IUGR (Intrauterine Growth Restriction) during her first pregnancy. Following the program’s recommendations—monthly lifestyle adjustments, Ayurvedic medicines, yoga, and mantra listening—she delivered a healthy baby weighing 3.5 kg through normal delivery.
  2. Priyanka Markam, another beneficiary, experienced recurring anemia during her pregnancy. By adhering to the Supraja program’s guidance, including prenatal practices and the consumption of “Dhatri Loha” (an Ayurvedic supplement), her hemoglobin levels remained above 11 throughout her pregnancy, leading to the birth of a healthy baby.

Key Features of the Supraja Program

The Supraja Scheme, launched in Chhattisgarh during 2023-24, focuses on comprehensive prenatal and postnatal care for mothers and infants. Key elements of the program include:

  • Monthly Health Checkups: Regular medical assessments for pregnant women and fetal growth monitoring.
  • Ayurvedic Guidance: Diet, lifestyle, and herbal medicine recommendations tailored to each stage of pregnancy.
  • Prenatal Yoga and Mental Wellness: Expectant mothers are provided yoga training and emotional wellness sessions by certified trainers and Ayurveda practitioners.
  • Free Ayurvedic Medicines: Pregnant women receive medicines to ensure a healthy pregnancy and reduce complications.
  • Reduced Cesarean Deliveries: The scheme has contributed to a significant decrease in cesarean section rates by promoting natural birthing practices.
  • Postnatal Follow-ups: Mothers and infants are monitored for six months post-delivery, with special focus on exclusive breastfeeding and maternal recovery.

Transformative Impact

The program has improved maternal health and reduced complications during pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Additionally, it ensures the newborn’s optimal health by addressing prenatal and postnatal care holistically.

The Supraja Scheme is setting a benchmark for how traditional practices like Ayurveda, integrated with modern healthcare approaches, can result in healthier mothers and children. With such initiatives, the district is witnessing a significant shift towards safer and healthier pregnancies, bringing hope to countless families.
