Dhamtari, November 29, 2024 The paddy procurement season in Dhamtari district is witnessing record-breaking numbers this year, thanks to the effective measures and farmer-friendly decisions taken by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai. Farmers are expressing their satisfaction with the smooth functioning of the procurement process, timely payments, and enhanced facilities at procurement centers.
Since November 14, paddy procurement has been running seamlessly across the state, including Dhamtari district. The fair price of their produce has brought smiles to the faces of farmers. Compared to the previous year, the pace of procurement has doubled, with 25,731 registered farmers selling a total of 11,25,515 quintals and 60 kilograms of paddy in the district so far. For this, farmers have already received ₹259.93 crore as payment.
Farmers have lauded CM Sai’s farmer-centric policies and efficient administrative support, making this year’s procurement season a resounding success in the region.
Enhanced Facilities at Paddy Procurement Centers
As per the state government’s vision, procurement centers have been equipped with all essential facilities to ensure farmers’ convenience. These include:
- Availability of micro-ATM services, enabling farmers to withdraw up to ₹10,000 directly at the centers.
- Adequate gunny bags supply.
- Electronic weighing scales for accurate measurements.
- Amenities like drinking water, shade, electricity, and restrooms.
The micro-ATM facility has been particularly beneficial in reducing unnecessary bank visits, saving time, and avoiding crowding at banks.
The district, which has 1,28,364 registered farmers, is serviced by 100 procurement centers that are efficiently managing the record-high influx of paddy. The improved arrangements and timely payments have boosted farmers’ morale and ensured smooth operations throughout the season.
Farmers Appreciate Government Efforts
At the Achhota procurement center, Bhikhuram Nishad, a farmer from Janwargaon village, shared his positive experience. He stated that he sold 58 quintals and 80 kilograms of paddy after generating an online token. Bhikhuram plans to use the payment received for building a house and expressed gratitude to CM Vishnudev Sai for providing extensive support to farmers.
Virendra Kumar Sinha, the committee manager at the Achhota center, highlighted the effectiveness of the micro-ATM service. He explained that this service allows farmers to withdraw or deposit up to ₹10,000 daily, reducing the dependency on banks. Efforts are also being made to spread awareness about this facility among farmers.
The government’s proactive approach and well-executed policies have not only ensured a bumper paddy procurement season but also uplifted the farmers’ confidence in the system. Dhamtari’s success story is a testament to how farmer-centric governance can bring tangible benefits to the agricultural community.
