Bhopal, November 26, 2024 Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Cabinet for approving three multi-tracking railway projects worth ₹7,927 crore under the Ministry of Railways. These projects are expected to accelerate the development of Madhya Pradesh while providing seamless transportation for citizens and promoting tourism.

Dr. Yadav commended the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, highlighting how the expanding railway network has not only eased connectivity for the state’s residents but also accelerated its growth. He added, “With these new initiatives, religious, cultural, and eco-tourism in the state will receive a significant boost.”

  3. Prayagraj (Iradatganj)–Manikpur Third Line (84 km)

These projects, spanning three states—Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh—will cover seven districts and add approximately 639 km to the Indian Railways network.

Boost to Tourism and Pilgrimage

The Chief Minister highlighted the tourism potential unlocked by these projects, stating, “This expansion will improve accessibility to prominent religious and heritage sites, benefiting pilgrims and nature enthusiasts alike.”

Major Benefits for Pilgrims:

  • Better connectivity to Jyotirlinga shrines like Omkareshwar (Khandwa), Trimbakeshwar (Nashik), and Kashi Vishwanath (Varanasi).
  • Improved access to religious sites such as Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Gaya, and Shirdi.

Enhanced Tourism Experience:

  • Easy access to UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Ajanta and Ellora Caves and historical landmarks such as Devagiri Fort and Rewa Fort.
  • Boost to eco-tourism with better connectivity to Yawal Wildlife Sanctuary, Kevti Falls, and Purwa Falls.

Benefiting Villages and Districts

The approved projects will enhance connectivity in aspirational districts like Khandwa and Chitrakoot, covering over 1,319 villages and serving a population of approximately 38 lakh.

This railway line expansion is expected to empower communities, support economic growth, and create a robust framework for the state’s tourism and industrial sectors. CM Dr. Mohan Yadav concluded by thanking Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw and reaffirming the state’s commitment to leveraging these opportunities for long-term progress.
