Dehradun, September 11, 2026: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met newly elected chairpersons of several district cooperative banks at the Secretariat and congratulated them on their election. He wished each office-bearer a successful and productive tenure.
Dhami said the cooperative sector has become an important support system for Uttarakhand’s rural economy. District cooperative banks, he added, are helping farmers, villagers, women and young people access banking services while also supporting self-employment and local economic activity.
The Chief Minister urged the newly elected representatives to work with transparency and place public interest at the centre of their decisions. He said stronger and more accountable cooperative institutions can improve financial access in rural areas and create better opportunities for people connected with agriculture, small businesses and village-based livelihoods.
Those who met the Chief Minister included Manjit Rawat, Chairperson of Dehradun District Cooperative Bank; Gajendra Singh Rawat, Chairperson of Chamoli District Cooperative Bank; Pankaj Rawat, Chairperson of Garhwal District Cooperative Bank, Kotdwar; Subhash Chand Ramola, Chairperson of Tehri Garhwal District Cooperative Bank; and Bijendra Singh Chaudhary, Chairperson of Haridwar District Cooperative Bank.
All five were recently elected unopposed as chairpersons of their respective district cooperative banks.
Cabinet Ministers Khajan Das and Ram Singh Kaida were also present during the meeting.
