Dehradun, August 25, 2026: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited stalls set up by women’s self-help groups at the Uttarakhand Secretariat under the Sashakt Bahna Utsav and purchased a range of locally made products. He urged people across the state to choose local goods during the upcoming festive season and help strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Vocal for Local campaign.
Dhami said products made by Uttarakhand’s women through self-help groups represent the state’s culture, traditions and traditional skills. He said purchasing these items does more than support local businesses—it also strengthens the livelihoods of the women who make them and helps them become financially independent.
The Chief Minister described the festive season as an important opportunity to promote products made within the state. He encouraged residents to select local items while buying gifts and household goods for festivals.
He said every purchase of a locally made product can help increase a family’s income, support a woman’s self-employment and contribute to the growth of Uttarakhand’s local economy.
Dhami said the Vocal for Local campaign has created renewed confidence in Indian products and encouraged consumers to value goods made by local communities. He added that the Uttarakhand government is working to provide better markets and wider opportunities to products created by women’s self-help groups, local artisans and small entrepreneurs.
The Chief Minister appealed to residents to buy local products during the festive season and encourage others to do the same. He said turning Vocal for Local into a people-led movement would help strengthen the vision of a self-reliant Uttarakhand and a self-reliant India.
