Bilaspur, October 6, 2024 Acting on the instructions of Collector Avneesh Sharan, the Mineral and Revenue Departments in Bilaspur district have intensified their crackdown on illegal mining and transportation of minerals. In a joint operation conducted on December 6, the departments seized several vehicles involved in the unauthorized extraction and transport of sand in Karhikachar village.
Details of the Operation
- Seized Vehicles:
- The Mineral Department confiscated 7 Hyva trucks engaged in sand transportation and secured them at Belgahna Police Station under police protection.
- The Revenue Department seized 4 Hyva trucks and 4 tractors, which are now stored at the Tehsil office for safekeeping.
- Additionally, 4 tractors involved in illegal sand transportation were seized from the Ghutku, Kachar, and Pendrawa areas by the Mineral Department and placed under the protection of Koni Police Station.
- Action Against Operators:
Legal cases have been filed for all incidents in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations. A notice has also been issued to the Karhikachar sand mine operator regarding these violations.

The joint teams of the Mineral, Revenue, and Police Departments are conducting continuous operations to curb illegal mining, transportation, and storage of minerals across the district. The Forest Department has also stepped up enforcement actions in forest areas, strictly adhering to legal provisions to address cases of unauthorized mineral extraction and transport.
