Raipur, November 13, 2024: Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, along with Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, inaugurated the grand “Maati Ke Veer Padayatra” in Jashpur as part of the celebrations for Tribal Pride Day. In his address, Dr. Mandaviya applauded the pivotal role youth played in India’s freedom struggle and their efforts during the pandemic. He encouraged the young generation to draw inspiration from the life of tribal hero Birsa Munda, who fought valiantly for the nation. Dr. Mandaviya further announced the construction of a fully-equipped sports stadium in Jashpur, responding to a request from Chief Minister Sai.
Chief Minister Sai expressed pride in hosting the event in honor of Birsa Munda’s legacy, as the nation prepares to celebrate his birth anniversary on November 15. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for designating the day as Tribal Pride Day, providing an opportunity to recognize the heritage of tribal communities.
In his speech, the Chief Minister emphasized the resilience of tribal culture, describing it as rooted in harmony, peace, and love for nature. He likened the preservation of tribal culture to the protection of Sanatan (eternal) values, underlining that celebrating tribal culture is inherently a celebration of India’s spiritual heritage.
Dr. Mandaviya and Chief Minister Sai formally opened the Padayatra, during which a documentary on Birsa Munda’s life was screened. A large-scale exhibition featuring tribal heroes, culture, and traditions was also set up. Numerous tribal youths, including members of the My Bharat volunteer organization, were honored for their achievements in sports and social service.
Chief Minister Sai spoke about ongoing initiatives, like the PM Janman and Earth Baba schemes, which aim to uplift tribal communities by providing access to quality education, healthcare through Ayushman Bharat, and income-generating programs like the Van Dhan scheme. He affirmed that, with the state’s dual-engine government, these efforts would continue to ensure growth reaches even the most remote tribal areas.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw, Tribal Welfare Minister Ramvichar Netam, Finance Minister and Jashpur District In-Charge O.P. Chaudhary, and other dignitaries, along with large numbers of youth and citizens, attended the grand event.
