Historic Agreement Signed with CEGIS and TRI to Strengthen Good Governance and Transparency

The Chhattisgarh government has taken a historic step towards administrative reforms and strengthening governance. In the presence of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, the state signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Effective Governance of Indian States (CEGIS) and Transforming Rural India (TRI). This partnership aims to bring transformative improvements in policymaking, financial discipline, and implementation of government schemes.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, “Our goal is to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources in the state. Through the establishment of the Department of Good Governance and Convergence, we aim to simplify administrative processes and make them more accessible to the people.”


A Big Step Towards Administrative Reforms

The objective of this agreement is not only to enhance transparency in governance but also to strengthen mechanisms for the efficient execution of government programs. The Chief Minister emphasized that this initiative will make it easier for citizens to avail benefits from government schemes without any hindrances.


Boosting Digital Transformation and E-Governance

Key aspects of this initiative include:

  • Effective monitoring of government schemes.
  • Strengthening the grievance redressal system through digital tools.
  • Accelerating digital governance and management.

The Chief Minister also highlighted that the use of digital technologies will help curb corruption effectively, ensuring that public services are delivered on time and without obstacles.


CEGIS Collaboration: A Step Towards Better Policymaking

Founder of CEGIS, Mr. Karthik Muralidharan, expressed his commitment to supporting the Chhattisgarh government. He said, “We will provide technical and analytical assistance to the state for effective policy implementation. Our efforts will focus on data-driven strategies and leveraging global expertise to aid the state’s progress.”

This collaboration is expected to significantly enhance financial management and strategic budgeting in the state.


TRI’s Role: Transforming Rural Development

The partnership with TRI focuses on improving rural areas in key sectors like education, healthcare, women empowerment, and water conservation. TRI’s Associate Director, Mr. Sreesh Kalyani, stated, “We aim to work closely with the government to strengthen local governance and enhance community participation. This will accelerate rural development and address critical issues in agriculture, climate adaptation, and livelihoods.”


A New Chapter in Governance for Chhattisgarh

Speaking about the partnership, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said, “This agreement is a major step towards enhancing transparency and accountability in governance. It will ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach citizens swiftly and effectively.”

Finance Minister Shri O.P. Chaudhary also lauded the initiative, calling it a milestone in the vision for good governance in the state.


The signing ceremony was attended by Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Subodh Singh, Secretary of the Good Governance and Convergence Department Shri Rahul Bhagat, and representatives from CEGIS and TRI.

This initiative marks the beginning of a new era in governance for Chhattisgarh, aiming to make administration more transparent, accountable, and citizen-friendly.
