Raipur, 29 October 2024* – On the occasion of National Unity Day, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai joined the citizens of Raipur in the ‘Run for Unity’ at Telibandha Lake, promoting the spirit of national unity and integrity. Flagging off the event, the Chief Minister highlighted the significance of the run, which is organized annually to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.

Chief Minister Sai emphasized the inspiration that Sardar Patel’s life and legacy provide. Recalling Patel’s crucial role in uniting over 500 princely states post-independence, he remarked, “Sardar Patel dedicated his life to maintaining the integrity of India. His determination and courage in uniting the nation inspire us all.” He also pointed out that the purpose of ‘Run for Unity’ is to spread the message of fitness nationwide. He noted, “When all citizens are healthy, the nation can progress rapidly with full energy.” The Chief Minister extended his greetings for Dhanteras, Diwali, State Foundation Day, Annakut, and Chhath Mahaparv to everyone.

The event saw participation from key officials, including Cabinet Minister Ram Vichar Netam, Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Tankaram Verma, Minister Laxmi Rajwade, and several MLAs. They actively joined the citizens in the unity run, reinforcing the collective spirit.

In his speech, Minister Netam conveyed his best wishes on National Unity Day and emphasized its importance in inspiring citizens to uphold the unity and integrity of the nation.

Sports Minister Tankaram Verma stressed that ‘Run for Unity’ symbolizes the unity, integrity, and security of the country. He praised Patel’s efforts in bringing together the various princely states and pointed out Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of making India a developed nation by 2047. Verma encouraged everyone to work collectively to achieve this vision.

This year, with the upcoming Diwali festivities, National Unity Day and the ‘Run for Unity’ were celebrated on 29 October to accommodate the festival season. The event aimed to reinforce the ideals of national unity and inspire citizens to remain committed to the nation’s growth and integrity.
