Raipur, 29 October 2024 – On the occasion of National Ayurveda Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the virtual foundation stone for the upcoming Central Yoga and Naturopathy Research Institute (CRIYN) in Raipur. The institute, spanning 10 acres, is set to be completed in 24 months with a 100-bed capacity. The event was held via video conferencing from the All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi.
During the ceremony, PM Modi highlighted the growing global appeal of Yoga and Panchakarma, stating that India’s advancements in these fields are attracting more visitors each year. He emphasized that the country’s health initiatives are vital for national progress, as a healthier population leads to accelerated development.
The CRIYN will be developed under the Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN) with a budget of INR 90 crores. This will be the first institute of its kind in Chhattisgarh, providing treatments for non-communicable diseases like obesity, prediabetes, metabolic syndrome, and arthritis. The institute will offer a range of facilities including outpatient and inpatient blocks, staff quarters, a yoga hall, diet center, massage and physiotherapy sections, and a research block.
The research center will also conduct certified courses in wellness therapy and fellowship programs in research. Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal expressed that the establishment of this institute marks a significant step in promoting traditional Indian practices. He praised the state government’s dedication to improving healthcare infrastructure and creating opportunities for self-employment among the youth. Minister Jaiswal noted that young people will receive training in yoga and naturopathy, empowering them to start their own ventures and contribute to the growth of wellness services.
The inauguration event at Raipur’s DDU Auditorium saw the presence of prominent figures including Member of Parliament Brijmohan Agrawal, MLAs Purandar Mishra, Khushwant Saheb, and Moti Lal Sahu, along with officials from the AYUSH Department and students of Ayurveda College. The new institute is expected to become a center of excellence, advancing knowledge in yoga and naturopathy.
