Foundation Stone Laid for Shri Vedmata Gayatri Mahavidyalaya in Jagdalpur

Raipur, January 2, 2025: The eternal tradition of our nation teaches us the essence of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family) and instills a sense of patriotism. A country can only be strong if its foundation is rooted in such values. These words were emphasized by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai while addressing the foundation stone ceremony of Shri Vedmata Gayatri Mahavidyalaya in the village of Kangoli near Jagdalpur during his visit to Bastar today.

Chief Minister Sai highlighted the significance of the Gayatri Mantra, stating that it is one of the most profound symbols of our eternal heritage. “The mantra guides us towards the righteous path. Institutions like Vidya Bharati are imparting not only quality education but also instilling patriotic values in students,” he said.

Education as a Pillar of Development

The Chief Minister underscored the critical role of education in shaping human life. He noted that the Chhattisgarh government is committed to promoting education alongside skill development. The state is home to premier institutes like IIT and IIM, ensuring access to world-class professional education. Additionally, 341 PM Shri Schools have been established, offering facilities to enhance the quality of education.

To support students preparing for competitive exams, Youth Hostels have been set up in cities like Delhi. The Chief Minister also spoke about the Nalanda campuses being developed to provide students with a conducive learning environment. He elaborated on the state’s implementation of the New Education Policy and its focus on holistic development.

Major Announcements for Education

In a major announcement, Chief Minister Sai pledged ₹50 lakh for the development of Vidya Bharati institutions. He was joined by Kanker MP Bhojraj Nag, who committed ₹1 crore annually from his MP fund to support Vidya Bharati’s initiatives in Chhattisgarh. Jagdalpur MLA Kiran Dev Singh also announced a financial grant of ₹10 lakh for the development of the Jagdalpur branch of the institution.

Ceremony Highlights

The event began with a Vedic Yajna conducted at the premises of the Saraswati Shishu Mandir. The Chief Minister participated in the rituals, offering prayers for the progress and prosperity of Bastar and the entire state. He also planted teak saplings on the campus.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sahu, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Tankaram Verma, Dantewada MLA Chaitram Atami, and other dignitaries. A large number of students, local representatives, and Vidya Bharati educators were present.

Institution leaders Rajbahadur Singh Rana, Narendra Taneja, and Ramdutt Chakradhar shared the objectives and activities of Vidya Bharati institutions, emphasizing their commitment to holistic education and preserving cultural values.

The event concluded with a collective resolve to uphold the ethos of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” and the propagation of patriotism among the youth.
