Beneficiaries Feel Safer in Homes Built Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
North Bastar Kanker, January 10, 2025:
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is transforming lives, providing not just the comfort of a solid roof over people’s heads but also a newfound sense of security and dignity. Beneficiaries of the scheme are experiencing a significant improvement in their living conditions and quality of life.
One such example is the story of Mrs. Manbai Yadav, a resident of Makrikhoona village in the Kanker development block. In 2024-25, she was sanctioned a house under the PMAY, and the construction of her new home is currently progressing rapidly. The lintel-level work is ongoing and is expected to be completed soon, paving the way for the realization of her long-awaited dream of a permanent home.
Mrs. Yadav currently lives with her son and daughter-in-law in a thatched roof house, which provides little security. Her eldest son works as a truck driver, while the younger son is employed at a private tent shop. Mrs. Yadav herself earns a livelihood through labor work, struggling to make ends meet. “I never thought I would have a proper house in my lifetime,” she shared, her voice filled with gratitude and hope.
She explained that living in a thatched house poses safety risks, particularly from wild animals, and often feels uncomfortable. However, with the PMAY, her family will soon move into a permanent house that ensures their safety and provides peace of mind. Mrs. Yadav expressed her heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai for making this dream come true.
This government initiative is bringing significant relief to poor families in rural areas, helping them achieve better living standards and gradually improving their lifestyles. Beneficiaries like Mrs. Yadav are testament to how schemes like PMAY are changing lives, one home at a time.
