Success Story: Women from remote areas express gratitude to the Vishnu government for changing their lives.
Korea, December 3, 2024
Women from the tribal regions of Sonhat Block, including Gulavati, Shakuntala, Sundari, Mangali, and Bela Bai, are among the many beneficiaries of the Mahatari Vandan Yojana, a government initiative designed to empower married women by providing financial support. These women have not only received economic assistance but have also taken significant steps toward self-reliance.
First Steps Towards Belief in the Scheme
Initially, when the women saw ₹1,000 credited to their accounts, they suspected fraud and hesitated to withdraw the amount. It was only after consulting the village sarpanch and verifying the information with officials and the bank that they learned the amount was part of the Mahatari Vandan Yojana.
Real-Life Transformations
Shakuntala Bai’s Sewing Business
A mother of three, Shakuntala Bai used the financial aid to purchase a sewing machine. She now stitches clothes for villagers, earning enough to support her family’s needs while becoming financially independent.
Sundari and Bela Bai’s Investments
Both Sundari and Bela Bai utilized the funds to buy vegetables and groceries for their households. They also saved a portion of the money for future emergencies.
Mangali Rajwade’s Balanced Approach
A mother of two, Mangali spent part of the funds on healthcare and the rest on household needs. She noted how the scheme has provided her with the ability to manage her family’s requirements effectively.
All the women collectively expressed, “This scheme has provided us with financial stability. We can now contribute to our families’ expenses while saving for the future.”
Objective of Mahatari Vandan Yojana
The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to married women in Chhattisgarh, including Korea district, enabling them to take essential steps for their families’ well-being. The beneficiaries have utilized the funds not only for personal needs but also to address the broader requirements of their households.
Impact Beyond Financial Aid
The scheme’s influence extends beyond financial support, as it motivates women to become self-reliant and pillars of their families’ economic stability. Government efforts have brought a noticeable transformation in the lives of rural women, inspiring many others in nearby villages like Kachar and Angwahi to follow the same path.
Building a Stronger Society
By improving the economic status of women in rural areas, the Mahatari Vandan Yojana has also strengthened their social standing. This initiative aligns with the government’s vision of realizing the dream of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India).
Through this program, the government continues its unwavering efforts to uplift women, making them equal partners in the nation’s development journey.
