Jagdalpur, December 10, 2024 The Mahatari Vandan Yojana, a flagship initiative of the Chhattisgarh government, has emerged as a significant support system for women, enabling them to meet household needs and achieve financial stability. For Padma Kachch, a single woman from Erandwal village in the Tokapal development block, the scheme has been nothing short of a blessing.

Padma, who lost her husband and relied solely on a widow’s pension for survival, expressed her gratitude for the government’s assistance. With tears of relief, she said, “After my husband passed away, I had no one to rely on. The Mahatari Vandan Yojana has given me hope and a means to support myself.”

Under this scheme, Padma now receives ₹1,000 per month, which she uses to meet her household expenses. Additionally, she benefits from the Antyodaya Ration Card, through which she gets 10 kilograms of free rice every month, easing her struggle to secure daily meals. Padma also saves a portion of the assistance amount to prepare for unforeseen circumstances.
