In Maharashtra’s political environment, the Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have opposed coalitions with the BJP and Congress, respectively.
The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will fight 48 Lok Sabha segments in the State, with the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) competing in 21 constituencies, the Congress in 17, and the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) in 10. The parties reached an agreeable solution by making significant concessions to ensure unity against the Mahayuti coalition, which includes the BJP, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP. The seat-sharing plan has yet to be announced. The MVA faced challenges in reaching an agreement due to the high number of candidates for each seat. The Shiv Sena (UBT) will field candidates in five regions of Maharashtra: Konkan, western Maharashtra, Marathwada, north Maharashtra, and Vidarbha. The NCP (SP) will focus on seats with a greater victory chance, mostly in the sugar belt in western Maharashtra.

The Congress has seats in Vidarbha, western Maharashtra, and Marathwada, while the other two allies hold seats in the Konkan area and most of Mumbai.
In 2019, the United Sena aligned with the BJP, while the United NCP supported the Congress. Mr. Thackeray’s decision to align with the Congress-NCP has resulted in the formation of new political groups. These changes and fissures within the Sena and NCP are becoming more permanent.  The partnerships will need to deal with dissatisfaction and resistance in various areas, since the troubles are not yet ended.

The Pawar family is divided into two factions, with Ajit Pawar supporting his wife Sunetra against his cousin Supriya Sule in their ancestral home of Baramati. The Lok Sabha elections will assess the popularity of individuals and groups that have undergone significant changes in the past five years. In an effort to maintain its alliance with the Sena (UBT) and senior Pawar’s NCP, the Congress lost several of its stalwarts who were unable to run for office.

The MVA aims to retain Prakash Ambedkar’s Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), despite lacking seats. The state is also important to the BJP’s national strategy, since it gained 23 seats in 2019.
The coalition with Sena and NCP groups will be challenged, with a focus on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in their campaign.
