Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav said the light of development lit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is spreading across the country. From 17 September to 17 October, Madhya Pradesh will run the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. On 17 September, at 7 pm, households and institutions across the state will light lamps to mark the Prime Minister’s birthday and express gratitude. The state aims to set a world record for simultaneous lamp lighting. At Ujjain’s Mahakal Mahalok and in every gram panchayat and urban ward, lamps will be lit together. Blood donation camps will be held at all health centres and medical colleges on the same day.
The campaign is not a single event. It is a month long series of activities designed to blend symbolism with service. From 19 to 26 September, districts will host art and speech contests under Mere Sapno Ka Bharat. State level finals on 4 and 5 October will award winners with certificates signed by the Chief Minister. From 19 September to 5 October, street plays titled Namo Seva Ankahi Kahaniyan will perform at public places. From 26 September to 5 October, Angan Milan Seva will bring nutrition, health, vaccination and hygiene information to anganwadi centres, along with snacks, play material and reading material for children and mothers. From 17 September to 17 October, Seva Ki Kahani will share messages from beneficiaries whose lives changed through central and state schemes.
On 7 October, a Service Jyoti Kalash Yatra will move through every assembly constituency. District development booklets will be distributed and local achievements discussed. A Badnagar to Varanasi service journey will pass through all districts from 17 September to 7 October. From 2 to 10 October, Seva Mera Yogdan will mobilise communities and institutions for service activities. In the same window, Seva Setu will hold camps at block and urban zone levels to deliver scheme benefits on the spot and link the effort to Janvishwas. On 9 and 10 October, large human rangoli events will be held in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Jhabua and Alirajpur. On 12 October, a Service First Innovation Challenge will bring together incubators, startup leaders and innovators. On 17 October, a national level Su Shasan Seva Samvad in New Delhi will include sarpanches from the state. Under 25 Years 25 Stories, distinguished citizens and families will receive central government kits in all districts. Influencers from other states will tour MP districts under the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra Influencer Exchange.
Why does this matter. Symbolic acts like lighting a lamp can unite people around a shared moment. But the test is whether symbolism translates into tangible service. Blood donation saves lives. Anganwadi outreach can improve nutrition and reduce anaemia. Seva Setu camps can clear backlogs and deliver benefits to those who have waited. Innovation challenges can surface local solutions to local problems. Human rangoli and street plays can draw crowds and spread messages in a language people understand. When these pieces are coordinated well, a campaign becomes more than a calendar. It becomes a channel for trust and delivery.
The real challenge will be execution. Will lamps be lit on time and in every ward. Will blood be collected, stored and transported safely. Will camps reach remote blocks and actually resolve grievances. Will travel, food and logistics be arranged so that participants, especially women and the elderly, can attend without hardship. Will the message stay focused on service, not just spectacle. If officials, elected representatives and communities coordinate closely, the month can leave a mark beyond the headlines.
Madhya Pradesh is betting that a blend of gratitude and governance can renew public spirit. For citizens, a lamp is not just a flame. It is a reminder that service is a shared duty. That is the true measure of this push: not just the number of lamps lit, but the number of problems solved and the trust rebuilt.
