Narayanpur, December 2, 2024 The Chhattisgarh government has launched the Chief Minister’s Special Health Assistance Scheme to provide advanced medical care for rare diseases and relieve citizens of the financial burden of such treatments. Under this scheme, eligible families can access free treatment worth up to ₹25 lakhs, making Chhattisgarh the first state in India to offer such a substantial amount for healthcare. This initiative is a cornerstone in building a healthier and more robust Chhattisgarh.

Gayatri Pandey’s Journey to Recovery

One of the many beneficiaries of this scheme is Mrs. Gayatri Pandey, a resident of Ward No. 7, Bakhrupara, Narayanpur. She had been suffering from piles for several years. During an initial examination at Narayanpur District Hospital, symptoms indicative of cancer were detected. Following medical advice, she was referred to the Balco Medical Center in April 2024 for further treatment.

Mrs. Pandey was admitted to the Medical Oncology Department at Balco Medical Center on April 12, 2024. She was diagnosed with capecitabine, a condition requiring a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Financial Aid and Free Treatment

Under the Chief Minister’s Special Health Assistance Scheme, an amount of ₹2,09,300 was approved and directly disbursed to Balco Medical Center for her treatment. This financial support ensured that her treatment was entirely free of cost.

Currently, Mrs. Pandey is recovering at her residence in Narayanpur. She continues to follow a prescribed medication regimen and has expressed gratitude for the timely and life-saving intervention under this scheme.

A Milestone in Healthcare Accessibility

The Chief Minister’s Special Health Assistance Scheme represents a monumental step in bridging healthcare gaps and ensuring access to quality medical services for the underprivileged. By covering rare diseases and enabling expensive treatments, the scheme not only alleviates financial stress but also reinforces the government’s commitment to public health.

Chhattisgarh’s initiative serves as a beacon of hope for citizens facing life-threatening conditions, fostering confidence in the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
