Narayanpur, December 2, 2024 Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, the state government has launched a seamless paddy procurement initiative for the Kharif Marketing Year 2024-25, starting November 14, 2024. Farmers across the region have benefitted from well-organized procurement centers equipped with essential facilities like shade, drinking water, medical kits, and functional tools.

These centers, coupled with the streamlined online token system, have ensured that farmers can sell their produce without long waits. To date, over 200 farmers in the district have sold their paddy, and ₹1.79 crore has been paid directly to their accounts, marking a new era of transparency and efficiency in agricultural support systems.

Siyaram Dugga’s Success Story

Among these farmers is Siyaram Dugga, a resident of Binjli village, who sold 96 quintals of paddy from his 5-acre farm at the procurement center. Siyaram shared that his family of six—comprising his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren—relies on paddy farming as their primary livelihood.

He revealed that this year, he used 5 sacks of DFE fertilizer and 4 sacks of urea for his crop. Delighted with the improved arrangements, he said:

“The support price procurement process has become smoother and more transparent this year. The online token system saved me from long queues. The arrangements at the center, from basic facilities to staff cooperation, were commendable. Additionally, payments are credited to our accounts within two days, which is a great relief for farmers.”

Key Highlights of Paddy Procurement

  • Support Price: ₹3,100 per quintal.
  • Procurement Quota: 21 quintals per acre.
  • Immediate Payment: Funds are transferred to farmers’ accounts within two days.
  • Enhanced System: The online token system eliminated middlemen and long waits.

Siyaram expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and the district administration for their efforts in ensuring a farmer-friendly procurement system.

Future Plans

Siyaram plans to use the proceeds from paddy sales to invest in summer crops and manage household expenses. He is optimistic about the future and praised the government’s initiatives for empowering farmers like him to achieve financial stability and agricultural growth.

A New Dawn for Farmers

The state government’s robust procurement system under the leadership of Chief Minister Sai has provided farmers with timely payments and eliminated reliance on intermediaries. With transparent practices and adequate support, the initiative has become a benchmark for agricultural empowerment in Chhattisgarh.

This success story of Siyaram Dugga stands as a testament to the transformative impact of these efforts, paving the way for more farmers to reap the benefits of their hard work.
