Review Meeting Held Under CMHO Bhopal’s Leadership; Up to ₹1.5 Lakh Free Treatment in Government and Ayushman-Affiliated Hospitals

Bhopal: November 12, 2024 Timely medical assistance for road accident victims will soon become a reality with the government’s ambitious initiative. A nationwide network of government and Ayushman-affiliated hospitals is being developed to provide free, immediate treatment for road accident victims, funded entirely by the government. An interdepartmental coordination meeting, led by Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Bhopal, Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, was held at the CMHO office to discuss the implementation of the Integrated Road Accident Database (iRAD). The meeting included officials such as Dr. Manoj Hurmade, District Health Officer; Mr. Manoj Sharma from the National Informatics Centre (NIC); Mr. Gautam from iRAD; and Mr. Akshat Mandloi from Ayushman Bharat Niramayam, along with other district-level officers.

The meeting focused on minimizing accidental deaths on national and state highways through the iRAD, a government-backed initiative. The program ensures free treatment for road accident victims, covering a predetermined minimum amount. Additionally, it aims to simplify the legal procedures associated with road accidents.

Topics discussed included tagging nearby hospitals for quick response, efficient use of the iRAD app, data entry protocols, and hospital registrations. Dr. Tiwari emphasized prioritizing the tagging of hospitals registered under Ayushman Bharat Niramayam, enabling accident victims to benefit from up to ₹5 lakh in cashless treatment in addition to the government-covered minimum amount. The government has also updated the iRAD platform to the eDAR (e- Detailed Accident Report) system for streamlined implementation.

NIC representatives reported that all government and 145 Ayushman-affiliated hospitals in Bhopal have been registered, with the remaining registrations underway. Representatives from Ayushman Bharat Niramayam also shared that testing of TMS-2 (Treatment Management System) is advancing quickly, and it will soon be available for use.

Dr. Tiwari directed departmental officials Shilpa Yadav and Chhaya Dangi to expedite the pending tasks. The NIC proposed piloting the project in Bhopal, which was immediately approved by CMHO Tiwari. Known for its proactive implementation of welfare programs, Bhopal district is expected to set an example with the execution of this critical initiative.
