Dehradun, July 25, 2026: On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off the ‘Run for Kargil Heroes’ marathon at Shaurya Sthal, Cheedbagh, Garhi Cantt, Dehradun. He also paid floral tributes at the memorial to honour the martyrs and their supreme sacrifice for the nation.

Dhami said Kargil Vijay Diwas stands as a symbol of the Indian Army’s courage, valour and unwavering dedication to the country. He recalled how Indian soldiers displayed extraordinary bravery in 1999 under extremely difficult conditions and protected the motherland, presenting to the world an inspiring example of the Army’s indomitable spirit.

The Chief Minister said Uttarakhand is known as the land of heroes, and many brave soldiers from the state have brought glory to the nation through their courage and sacrifice in the Kargil war and several other military operations. He said the state government is continuously working for the welfare of soldiers, ex-servicemen and their dependents, and remains fully committed to protecting their honour and interests.

He urged young people to draw inspiration from the ideals of the martyrs and actively contribute to nation-building. He said every citizen must discharge their responsibility towards the unity, integrity and security of the country with sincerity and dedication.

Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi, along with a large number of ex-servicemen, youth, women and other dignitaries, was present on the occasion.
