Raipur, November 14, 2024: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai inaugurated the grand two-day celebration of Tribal Pride Day and the Inter-State Tribal Folk Dance Festival at Raipur’s Science College Grounds. This event, held on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda, began with a traditional Devgudi ritual and lamp lighting. The festival will feature symposiums, tribal art exhibitions, and captivating performances by 28 tribal dance troupes from 21 states across the country.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sai extended his best wishes for Tribal Pride Day and paid homage to Lord Birsa Munda and other tribal heroes like Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh and Gunda Dhur. He acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to honor Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary as Tribal Pride Day, calling it a significant gesture toward the tribal community. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude on behalf of Chhattisgarh’s three crore citizens to the Prime Minister for this acknowledgment.
The Chief Minister highlighted the grand start of the Tribal Pride Day celebrations in Jashpur on November 13, noting the dedication shown by Prime Minister Modi and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee toward the tribal community. He recalled Vajpayee’s establishment of a separate ministry for the welfare of the country’s 10 crore tribal population.
Sai further mentioned the PM Janman Scheme, which is enhancing basic amenities in villages of the most underprivileged tribal communities. Tomorrow, on November 15, the Prime Minister will formally inaugurate the Tribal Pride Day celebrations from Jamui, Bihar. The Chief Minister announced that the Central Government’s “Dharati Aba Tribal Village Utkars Campaign,” with a budget of ₹80,000 crores, will bring comprehensive development to 6,691 tribal villages across Chhattisgarh, focusing on infrastructure and tribal welfare.
The event began with a grand march-past by tribal dance troupes from 21 states, which was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience. The Minister for Tribal Welfare, Ramvichar Netam, in his welcome address, emphasized the festival as an opportunity to honor cultural heritage, traditions, and the sacrifice of the nation’s heroes.
The event witnessed the participation of Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sahu, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Sports Minister Tank Ram Verma, Rajya Sabha MP Devendra Pratap Singh, former minister Ramshila Sahu, and legislators including Purandar Mishra, Guru Khushwant Singh, Moti Lal Sahu, and Anuj Sharma. Senior officials like Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary of Tribal Welfare Sonamani Bora, and CM’s Secretary P. Dayanand were also present, along with a large gathering of the public.
