Bhopal, November 12, 2024, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has emphasized the importance of promptly reporting digital arrests or any cybercrimes to the police. Speaking at the State Cyber Police Headquarters, he highlighted the power of awareness and swift action in combating cybercriminals. Dr. Yadav commended the cyber police for their efficiency in a recent “digital arrest” case and urged the public to follow safety guidelines to avoid such frauds. He noted that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi has encouraged digital safety measures, emphasizing the need to pause, think, and act before reacting to potential scams.

**Prompt Response in Cyber Crime Cases**
On November 9, Madhya Pradesh’s cyber police responded to a digital arrest case involving a Bhopal resident from Arera Colony. The team conducted a live raid, preventing a multi-crore cyber fraud and freeing the victim. This case is possibly the first of its kind globally, showcasing the rapid response of the cyber police. Dr. Yadav praised DGP Sudhir Saxena, ADGP Yogesh Deshmukh, Cyber Cell DIG Yusuf Qureshi, and Sub-Inspector Sachin Yadav for their exemplary efforts.

**Preventing Panic in Digital Arrests**
Dr. Yadav encouraged people not to panic in cases of digital arrest and reassured that with timely police intervention, such scams can be avoided. He acknowledged that common citizens are often unaware of proceedings by agencies like the CBI or ED, which can make them susceptible to cyber fraud. The prompt action by the police served as an example of the importance of timely reporting.

**Cyber Stations in Every District and Cyber Desks in Every Police Station**
Dr. Yadav announced efforts to enhance cyber policing across the state. Each district will soon have a dedicated cyber police station, and all police stations will have a cyber desk. The cyber helpline 1930 will be strengthened, and a state-wide cyber awareness campaign will be launched to educate the public on preventive measures.

**Continuous Advisory on Cyber Crimes**
With cyber complaints reaching nearly 500,000 this year, compared to 4,000 in 2019, the cyber police have been issuing regular advisories on scams such as electricity bill fraud, pension fraud, and digital arrests. Over the last five years, around 259 training programs have been conducted to educate approximately 24,000 police, judicial, and prosecution officials. Public awareness campaigns have reached over 3.1 million citizens, including students, women, and the elderly.

**Recognition for Cybercrime Prevention Efforts**
For its consistent cybercrime prevention efforts, Madhya Pradesh has received multiple national awards, including NCRB awards in 2021 and 2022, DSCI Capacity Building awards in 2018 and 2022, Cyber Cop of the Year awards from 2018 to 2022, and FICCI’s Capacity Building award in 2022.
