Bhopal, October 31, 2024,: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav celebrated Diwali with senior citizens at Anand Dham Ashram in Shivaji Nagar, Bhopal. During the visit, he announced plans to establish elder care centers at key religious sites, including Ujjain, Orchha, Omkareshwar, and Chitrakoot. The initiative will provide seniors with necessary amenities, ensuring a comfortable environment near these spiritual centers.

Additionally, for elderly individuals whose children work abroad, Chief Minister Yadav directed that hospital beds be reserved for their health emergencies. This move aims to give peace of mind to both seniors and their families, assuring that healthcare will be readily available should the need arise.

Dr. Yadav personally extended Diwali greetings to the residents of Anand Dham, lighting sparklers with them and distributing sweets and gifts. The Chief Minister shared that he felt a deep connection with the elderly at the ashram, adding that the celebration reminded him of being with his own late parents.

In his speech, Dr. Yadav expressed his commitment to expanding similar centers at other culturally significant locations in the state. He emphasized that these ashrams will not only support seniors but also allow them to engage in meaningful programs. For those with children working abroad, the government plans to arrange specialized assistance and healthcare access, with beds reserved in hospitals for immediate care when required.

Anand Dham residents were delighted with the Chief Minister’s visit, expressing their gratitude and blessing him warmly. The event also included bhajan performances by the elders, adding to the joyful atmosphere of the occasion.

The Social Justice and Empowerment Department currently operates 83 old-age homes across Madhya Pradesh, providing housing, nutrition, recreation, and healthcare to seniors.
